ABOUT GRACE CHURCH
Grace Episcopal Church is a progressive community that works to advance social justice as an outward sign of our spirituality.
Our goals are simple:
- Be a loving community, welcoming everyone, following the path of Jesus.
- Engage in ministries that matter to us and our neighbors, the people of Allentown.
- Nurture spiritual growth within ourselves and others, in and out of Church.
Grace Congregation membership include The Episcopal Diocese of Susquehann, The Lehigh Council of Churches, and The Recovery Mission of the Episcopal Church.

as was shown to us through the Life of Jesus.
Engaging in ministries that matter to us and the people of Allentown.
Nurturing spiritual growth within ourselves and others, in and out of Church.
Celebrating Recovery!
Welcome to the Recovery Community of Grace Episcopal Church
The first Sunday of each month, our Recovery Worship expresses our faith in God’s love and healing, including through the 12 Steps of Recovery. We explore the relationship between the 12 Steps and Christian teachings, beginning with Step 1 in January.
We gather in Worship to listen to the word of God in song, prayer, 12 Step literature and Holy Scripture. We listen to each other and to a message of delight, comfort, healing, and promise. We experience the presence of God, our higher power.
We protect anonymity – what is shared in confidence during worship and coffee hour remains within the walls of the Church.
Everyone is welcome at God’s table during Communion, where we offer consecrated grape juice, wine, bread and blessings.
EVERY service at Grace offers healing, reconciliation, and joyful worship, but it is on the first Sunday of the month that we explicitly include 12-step practices and prayers. Grace celebrates all forms of Recovery – from addictions, grief, abuse, mental illness, loss, and the hurts and sorrows of daily life.
We are in partnership with Treatment Trends’ residential and halfway houses, the Allentown Men’s Rescue Mission and welcome contact from individuals and programs in the Recovery Community.
The people of Grace are informed and have studied recovery and addiction for many years. Several of us are in 12 Step Fellowships, and many in the congregation have worked the 12 Steps to address their own character defects. We hope more people in Recovery will join us, and we welcome friends and families of those who are addicted or in recovery.
